Ethos & Values

"Commitment to Excellence"

Kindness Honesty Respect

Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mr J Clayton emphasizes that Redhill School places exceptional pastoral care at the heart of its work, that happy and healthy children become successful learners, and that the school delivers a rich, deep and challenging curriculum. He notes praise from the Department for Education for language provision (placing Redhill in the top 10% of state-funded schools) and highlights strong home–school links, a positive atmosphere and behaviour, and a commitment to further improving and pushing boundaries. He expresses openness to visits and pride in staff and student achievements.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is built around the national curriculum within a broader, coherent framework that reflects the school's commitment to excellence, respect, honesty and kindness. Careful sequencing and progression to ensure pupils master foundational concepts before moving on, linking new learning to existing knowledge. Evidence-Informed Design and Adaptation using Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) recommendations, staff feedback and pupil progress monitoring. Regular checks of understanding with live feedback and formative assessment to close gaps swiftly and support all learners, including disadvantaged pupils. Explicit development of metacognition and independent learning so pupils become self-regulated learners. Homework is integrated into learning checks with open-book elements and scaffolded struggle time (purple pen) to drive targeted feedback and progress. A Teaching and Learning Toolkit guides high-quality teaching; toolkit usage is reviewed three times per year to inform CPDL and professional growth. Curriculum is reviewed to ensure consistency, inclusivity and ongoing improvement across subjects and year groups.
