Head Teacher's Message

Welcome from Principal Mrs Lynn Mayes. Cambourne Village College opened in 2013 and is an academy of The Cam Academy Trust. The college emphasizes breadth of opportunity, strong examination results, a vibrant extra-curricular offer (music, drama, sports, clubs), and a welcoming, inclusive Village College ethos that serves the whole community, including active adult education and community use of school facilities.

Curriculum Highlights

All pupils study music, drama, dance and art across Key Stage 3 Annual musical theatre productions, termly concerts, the school orchestra, ensembles and choirs Cambourne Music School for primary musicians run by the Music Department after school hours on three evenings per week The arts and performing arts are central to the school culture, with ongoing efforts toward Artsmark Platinum Award

The school provides safeguarding and well-being provisions including the Hub for mental health support, counselling by fully trained external counsellors (BACP/HCPC registered), and a referral process; pupils can self-refer for counselling or staff can refer; there is access to CAMHS; pastoral support, mentoring (teacher-led and peer mentoring including Mental Health Ambassadors and prefects); a drop-in room for wellbeing; use of external resources and online support; a wellbeing email for staff and pupils; and MyConcern for safeguarding concerns.

Governors establish admission criteria; admissions administration is handled by Cambridgeshire Local Authority; catchment area includes Monkfield Park, The Vine Inter Church, Jeavons Wood, Cambourne & Hardwick Primary School; Year 7 admissions coordinated by the LA with online applications via cambridgeshire.gov.uk or local forms; offers issued by the LA on the National Offer Date (1 March or first working day after); in-year admissions use the LA process; in oversubscribed cases, the school's Admissions Policy criteria are applied; school tours are held and can be booked via the college email.
