Ethos & Values

"Providing an excellent education for every child, in every classroom, every day."

Bravery Kindness Effort

Head Teacher's Message

Lift Broadlands is described by the principal as a small, inclusive school where every child is ‘known and nurtured’ across the community. The curriculum is broad and balanced with the arts playing a strong role at KS3. Students achieve well and go on to a wide range of post-16 courses. The school aims for 90% of students to achieve at least a grade 4 in English and Maths by 2028. There is a comprehensive extra-curricular offer, including teams, clubs, enrichment, student voice and leadership and trips, with links to local universities and employers for work experience.

SEND Provision

Lift Broadlands provides for four main categories of SEND: Cognition and learning; Social, emotional and mental health; Communication and interaction; Sensory and/or physical needs. For students with medical needs, each pupil will have a Care Plan compiled in consultation with parents and one of our medical assistants. Staff receive regular medical training, and medicines can be administered in school with signed parental consent and medicines kept in the original packaging. Arbor is used to ensure that every student with SEND has a Broadlands Support Plan shared with teachers and families, and live information can be accessed by parents via the Arbor app.

Admissions Criteria

Lift Broadlands Academy is the admissions authority for the school. The Year 7 Published Admission Number (PAN) is 180 for 2024/25. The secondary school admission round for Year 7 places opens in September each year, with a statutory national closing date on 31 October. Applications can be made online via the local authority’s admissions website. Open Evening for prospective students and families takes place in early October. National Offer Day is in March. In-Year admissions come direct to the school from the parent/carer via the In-Year Admissions Form. If spaces and resources are available, a visit may be arranged; if not, applicants may be placed on a waiting list. For Nursery, arrangements can be made prior to an EHC plan if the local SEN team supports it.
