Admissions Criteria

Torquay Academy admits children of all abilities. For oversubscribed year groups, priority is given in the following order: Looked after children; up to 8 places for the Football Academy; up to 8 places for the Performing Arts Academy; children of staff (with conditions); children who have a sibling on roll; other children living in the designated area served by the Academy; other children living outside the designated area. If necessary to distinguish between applicants within categories, priority is given to those living closest to the Academy (straight-line distance). If distances are identical, allocation is by random selection in the presence of a senior manager. The home address used for applications is the address of the person with parental responsibility, and the Academy is part of the Torbay Council coordinated admissions process.
