Oakwood Academy is a barrier-free special school for pupils aged 9-19. Pupils are admitted following a statutory assessment of special educational needs (SEN) under the Education Act 1996 and a Local Authority decision, alongside a consultation with the Headteacher to determine that Oakwood Academy is an appropriate placement to meet the pupil’s SEN. Pupils who attend Oakwood Academy have an Education, Health and Care Plan. Admission is also subject to there being a place available in school. Oakwood Academy is unable to accept direct requests for placements from parents or carers or other local authorities.
