Curriculum Highlights

KS3 offers English, Mathematics, Science, French, German, Latin, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Music, Art, Drama, Design Technology and Engineering, Physical Education and Computing; Spanish is added in Years 8 and 9; teaching is in form groups with no subject streaming. KS4 requires 9 GCSEs including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (Triple Certification), one language (French/German/Spanish/Latin), one from Geography/History/Religious Studies/ Classical Civilisation, and one from Art/Design & Technology/Drama/Music; possible extra GCSE depending on staffing and numbers; PSHE and PE/PSHE taught throughout KS4. Sixth Form offers four core subjects in Year 12; students can choose four A Levels or focus on three in Year 13; A Level subjects offered include Art, Classical Civilisation, Design and Technology: Product Design, Economics, English Literature, Geography, Politics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Latin, Music, French/German/Spanish, History, Biology, Physics, Chemistry; strong emphasis on independent study, debate and leadership.

SEND provision for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEN) identified by staff; SENCO is Mrs. N. Griffin and can be contacted at [email protected]; provision includes high-quality teaching with personalised response and, where necessary, structured support; full details are in the school’s SEND Policy, SEND Report, Accessibility Plan and Exam Access Arrangements Policy; EHCP admissions follow local authority SEND processes.

Admissions Criteria

Year 7 admissions are by academic selection, with a First Round Entrance Test in Verbal, Non-Verbal reasoning and English, followed by a Second Round English and Mathematics test.
