Facilities

Science laboratory Library Conservatory room Garden Dining area Kitchen Art room Design and technology studio Community room Chill-out room

Curriculum Highlights

Negotiated curriculum allowing student input and linking interests to curricular subjects (eg horse riding, manga, car racing). Education from Entry Level to GCSE; PSHEE and Careers Guidance. Small class sizes (from one to six students; initial one-to-one sessions). Therapy and wellbeing integrated into timetable (counselling/therapy; talking, music, art, equine and play therapies). Non-traditional centres designed to feel safe and homely; focus on wellbeing and personal development; registered exam centres allowing exams in familiar environments.

SEND Provision

Red Balloon offers full-time, term-based provision, either in-person at Centres or at Red Balloon of the Air, which provides a hybrid of online and face-to-face support (up to 15 hours per week).

Admissions Criteria

Typical ages 11–16 (KS3–4). Some centres state up to age 18 for GCSEs (e.g., RB Cambridge); some centres offer part-time provision (RBET Aylesbury) with up to 15 hours per week. Centres may require case-by-case assessment; not offering A-levels. EHCPs may be provided for some students depending on their needs. Provision can be short-term (up to about six terms) or longer-term, with aims to re-engage students into mainstream education or other routes.
