Curriculum Highlights

Aylesford School seeks to provide a broad, ambitious curriculum that is sequenced and designed to provide all of our learners with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. The English curriculum uses the Read, Write, Inc. (RWI) phonics programme for reading and phonics development. The curriculum is taught from Early Years through to Year 13, with core and foundation subjects and clear progression and links across subjects to build prior knowledge and vocabulary. The school emphasises assessment to support recall and progression and to ensure accessibility for all learners. Careers guidance at Aylesford aligns with the Gatsby Benchmarks and uses Unifrog to support post-16 opportunities. Post-16 curriculum offers a wide range of subjects, including Art, Business & Enterprise, Criminology, Drama, Economics, English, Geography, Health and Social Care, History, Maths, Media Studies, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Pastoral Curriculum, Photography, Physical Education, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sciences, Sociology, and Textiles.
