The principal describes Brixham College as an exceptional school with a fantastic learning environment and ethos, emphasising it as a comprehensive school that provides excellent educational opportunities for all students and upholds high expectations, knowledge, character, leadership and continuous improvement.

Curriculum Highlights

KS3 is delivered over 3 years and includes languages (Spanish or French) with a broad core and subject options (Values, Art, Drama, DT, English, Geography, History, Computer Studies, Maths, Music, PE, Philosophy and Ethics, Science). KS4 is delivered over 2 years with core subjects English, Maths, Science, Physical Education and PSHEE, plus option subjects; students are encouraged to study EBACC subjects and to take a language and a humanity subject to complete EBACC. The Values Curriculum is embedded across the College and integrates PSHEE, Citizenship and British Values; delivered through timetabled lessons, assemblies, focus learning days and events. The Brixham Way features six principles: Challenge, explanation, practice, modelling, questioning and feedback. Teaching and learning are described as mastery-based with emphasis on deep understanding, retrieval, and continuous improvement across the curriculum.

SEND Provision

The Harbour (ASC Enhanced Provision) provides safety and comfort for children who have autism, with dedicated access to school via the maths block, its own entrance, a sensory garden, a brand-new sensory room, and life-skills provision including a kitchen.
