Religious Education aims to provoke challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God and issues of right and wrong. Art & Design: In the Art department we believe that all students have a particular talent, an individual ability. We endeavour to discover and build on that strength whether it is drawing, painting, sculpture or any other form of creative expression. Computing: Computing at St. Catherine’s allows student to explore the world of technology through creative, engaging lessons and extra-curricular activities. Design & Technology: Design and Technology is a practical-based subject. Students develop D&T capability through combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding to enable them to design and make products. Drama: Drama and theatre are a universal and vital part of the human experience. The aim of Drama at KS3 is for all students to develop the skills and knowledge which enable them to create and perform meaningful drama. English: English is the medium through which we express and understand ourselves, and make sense of the world Geography: Geography is the study of the Earth’s landscapes, people, places and environments. It is about the world in which we live and helps students to be more socially and environmentally aware. History: In History we aim to inspire students to ask the question why? and to become enquiring, analytical and well informed individuals. Maths: Mathematics forms the building blocks of everything around us and emphasizes pattern spotting, problem solving, creative thinking and teamwork. Media Studies: Media Studies helps students develop a wider understanding of the media and their role in society, culture and politics. Modern Foreign Languages: Studying French or Spanish enables pupils to communicate in the foreign language and understand it in speech and writing, including cultural context. Music: Music enables students to explore sound through performance, composition, listening & appraising and the language of music. Physical Education: A high-quality PE curriculum that develops a wide range of skills and strategic thinking. Science: Science is a process that continually refines and expands our knowledge of the universe.
