Haberdashers’ Adams is a selective state grammar school. Year 7 entry is conditional on achieving the required academic standard in the school’s entrance test and the availability of places. The entrance test comprises two papers assessing English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning (about 50 minutes per paper; tests administered for about 1 hour). The school also notes that spaces may be available occasionally in Years 8–10. Boarding is available (boys only for boarding). Overseas boarders require UK passport or right of abode and a UK guardian. The Sixth Form requires three A-levels and either an AS-level or EPQ; there is extensive information on admissions documents and policies on the site.
There are no education fees for day pupils as Haberdashers’ Adams is a state school; boarding has costs: Full Boarding 2026-27: Year 7-11 £5,278 per term; Sixth Form £5,797 per term (fixed for 2 years); Flexi Boarding for Sixth Form £73 per night (excluding laundry); A deposit of £3,000 is required on boarding offers; Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) for Armed Forces personnel reduces boarding fees to 8% of the standard rate; Overseas boarding may incur an additional one-off charge.
