Curriculum Highlights

Knowledge Organisers are used in Key Stage 3 to support long-term memory. Guided Form Time Reading introduced in Years 7–10 to develop vocabulary and comprehension. Reading is encouraged with access to the library and reading interventions. Curriculum is broad and follows the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum; learners may be placed into ability sets in English, Maths and Science (Years 7–9). English Baccalaureate is encouraged (GCSEs in English, Maths, Science, Geography or History, and a modern foreign language). Modern foreign languages offered are Italian and Spanish (Italian and Spanish taught in Year 7, before specialising in Year 8). In Key Stage 4, more curriculum time for English, Maths and Science; Triple Science may be available for top sets; community language GCSEs offered. Inclusion team supports learners who are new to English.
