Curriculum Highlights

Montessori method features: Mixed age groups; Hands-on learning by doing; Individualised learning. There are no fixed lesson times, no set assignments, and no formal testing; learning occurs when the child is working and is guided by the Guide. Going Out experiences involve planning and carrying out outings beyond the classroom to engage with society (library, parks, woodland, etc.). Cosmic education: a holistic study of the Earth, life and the human story, connecting subjects across physics, chemistry, geography, biology, history, art, music, languages and maths. Five sequential oral stories taught over six weeks: The Formation of the Universe; The Coming of Life; The Story of Humans; The Story of Signs; The Story of Numbers.

Admissions Criteria

Applications are considered for children turning 3 in the 2025/26 academic year, or for children moving from other AMI Montessori schools. Steps include attending an open afternoon, discussing suitability, completing a waiting list application, visiting The Montessori Place, and possibly a trial day. If offered a place, a written acceptance is required within 2 weeks. Places are offered in this priority order: age-appropriate entry; parent intends to keep child at TMP until age 18; sibling already at the school; participation in the TMP community; date of registration on the waiting list.

Financial Information

The school year is 36 weeks long. Our 2025/26 fee schedule can be found here. For families who joined TMP before August 2014, email Eme Fulop for the 2025/26 fee sheet.
