"TOGETHER WE DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE"
Our PSHE/SMSC/RE work celebrates elements of celebrations and festivals across all faiths represented within our school.
Headteacher Mr Warner Stainbank welcomes families and describes Wood End as a caring, inclusive community with high standards, a broad curriculum including extracurricular activities, strong partnerships with families, and an invitation to visit or ask questions.
We routinely offer children extra support to gain basic skills in maths, reading and writing. We offer language development support to children who have communication difficulties identified in school and by specialists. We work alongside other professionals to implement specific programmes (e.g., occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy). We support children with social and emotional difficulties in social skills groups and in some instances, on an individual basis. We have a counseling service in school and can offer parenting advice. We use visual timetables, social stories, move and sit cushions, ear defenders and writing slopes where beneficial. Some staff can use Makaton and PECS. We provide low-stimulation work spaces and can discuss issues that parents may experience out of school. Referrals to outside agencies can be discussed with you. We have access to an Educational Psychologist; Local Authority SEND Team and outreach services. The governor for SEND meets with the SENCO to ensure best interests of children with SEND. Progress is tracked and reviewed, and transition planning is considered for move to another class or school.
