Head Teacher's Message

James Graham, Principal, describes Aston Academy as an 11-18 secondary school with a hard-working, friendly community. The academy challenges all students to reach their potential, aims to empower students to strive for excellence, offers a broad curriculum, and emphasizes safeguarding, inclusion, and partnerships with families and the community.

Curriculum Highlights

Knowledge-based curriculum engineered to enable all students to be successful and sequenced to build knowledge. Direct instruction and consistent routines to maximise learning time and improve outcomes. Reading is prioritised and central to the curriculum to develop fluent readers with strong vocabulary and comprehension. Oracy and vocabulary development through targeted strategies and professional development. Curriculum is an entitlement for all students, including those with HA, SEND, or PP, through adaptive teaching. Mastery booklets for Year 7 homework to support metacognitive skills and retrieval of knowledge. Curriculum across subjects prioritises cross-curricular mathematics and developing mathematical vocabulary.
