Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher David Anderson welcomes families to Uppingham Community College, describing it as an 11-16 school of around 900 students. The message emphasises core values of Respect, Honesty and Kindness, a high-quality, aspirational curriculum, holistic development, a safe and welcoming environment, a strong commitment to staff development and continual improvement, and the aim for every student to thrive with excellent GCSE outcomes.

SEND Provision

SEND provision is led by the SENCo, Mrs Lisa Oliver, with overall Inclusion oversight by Associate Assistant Principal Mrs Wiggin. All students can access: Quality First Teaching with appropriate differentiation; visual aids; assessment for identification of significant needs. Targeted support for small groups may include 1:1 or small group interventions focusing on numeracy, literacy, comprehension, spelling, working memory, balance and coordination; personalised timetables/curriculum; Departmental Teaching Assistants; external agency advice where needed; Exam Access Arrangements. Support for individual students may include a pupil profile, 1:1 session with a Speech and Language Therapist or Specialist, ongoing monitoring and termly reviews, regular communication with parents, Wellbeing Hub access, and other tailored supports as required.
