Head Teacher's Message

The King John School is a large, mixed comprehensive with a well-established sixth form. The Headteacher, Mr D Steel, presents a school guided by five PRIDE values (positivity, resilience, integrity, dignity and equality) and emphasizes a caring, supportive, aspirational learning community with high expectations and opportunities for all. The school notes its Ofsted rating of Good (July 2021) and highlights awards including Centre of Excellence for Inclusion and Music Mark.

SEND Provision

The King John School is the King John School is committed to developing provision for young carers and their families. The whole school is committed to meeting the needs of young carers so that they can attend and enjoy school in the same way as other pupil/students and achieve their potential. The school has an effective referral system and strong partnership in place with relevant external agencies, including referral to Young Carer agencies providing key workers who will work with young carers and families. The King John School has appointed designated Young Carers’ School Leads with responsibility for young carers and their families. Families and students can speak to them to access support. The King John School will actively seek feedback and ideas from young carers and their families to shape and improve support. (See Young Carers information on the Young Carers page.)
