Curriculum Highlights

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9): English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Spanish, German, Latin, Classical Civilisation, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Computer Science, Art, Design & Technology, Cookery, Music, Physical Education, Games and PSHCE; Drama is introduced in Years 8 and 9 with options for Latin, Classical Civilisation, German or Spanish in Year 9; smaller class sizes in Year 9 with eight teaching sets. Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11): 10 GCSEs including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, a modern foreign language, and Geography or History; two further options from a wide list; higher attaining Mathematics students may study Further Mathematics; includes PSHCE, Careers and Physical Education; TAA on Thursdays with opportunities in CCF, volunteering, new sports, languages, Art and Music. SEND Provision

Pupil Premium funding is used to provide a wide range of academic, co-curricular and pastoral support including small-group and 1:1 tuition, access to GCSE Easter Revision Courses, funding of public exam revision talks and seminars, support for literacy and numeracy, provision of resources to support learning (iPads, calculators and stationery), access to the school’s breakfast club, one-to-one appointments and advice from Connexions careers service, visits to universities, support in buying uniform and PE kit, and encouragement to participate in school trips and activities including the CCF, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and World Challenge expeditions, as well as support in paying for music lessons.

Admissions Criteria

RGS High Wycombe is a selective day and boarding grammar school. Day pupils do not pay fees but must pass an entrance exam—the Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools Secondary Transfer Test (11+). Fees apply for boarding; the education remains state-funded for day pupils.
