Curriculum Highlights

All Bexley Grammar students study two languages to GCSE with a choice of French, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Japanese, Chinese or Latin (one of which must be French or German); Sixth Form students may study the same breadth of languages in the IB at three levels of challenge. All students study Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE; Sixth Form students may study Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems, Sports Science, Design & Technology and Computer Science as part of the IB curriculum. Mathematics remains a strength and is studied at an appropriate level in the Sixth Form as part of the IB curriculum. Curriculum enrichment includes overseas visits (USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sicily, Greece, Iceland, Russia, Morocco, China, Japan); language support and overseas work experience placements for Sixth Form MFL students in France, Germany, Spain, Sardinia or Italy; participation in Biology, Chemistry and Physics Olympiads, the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge; participation in the National Individual and Team Maths Challenges; and a weekly maths club. During summer Enrichment Week, Year 7 visits a published author, Year 8 completes a River Darent data project with Geography, Year 9 visits the University of Sussex, and Year 12 attend Astrobiology and Science Christmas lectures; involvement in external competitions and visits to London universities for science lectures are also encouraged.

The SEND Policy outlines: arrangements for co-ordinating the provision for students with SEN; admission arrangements; allocation of resources; identification of SEN and the assessment and provision of SEN; procedures for the monitoring and review of SEN; access to a broad and balanced curriculum; whole-school integration; evaluating SEN policy; and arrangements for handling complaints.
