Stephen Logan, Principal of Healing Academy, presents a values-driven, inclusive and ambitious school culture, emphasising care, high standards and strong support for every pupil, with a aim to restore Healing as a high-performing regional school and to equip students with academic excellence, life skills and personal attributes for safe, successful lives.

Curriculum Highlights

3:2 curriculum model for Years 7-9 with three years of study and a flexible two-year pathway for Years 10-11 Separate Sciences option (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) as distinct GCSEs Dual Science pathway yielding two GCSEs Life curriculum including RE, PHSE, SMSC, RSE and CEIAG Gatsby benchmarks and entitlement to the English Baccalaureate Co-curriculum and cross-curricular skills development to foster resilience and social responsibility

SEND Provision

Healing Academy offers SEND support via the Learning Support area with interventions for cognition and learning, literacy and numeracy, SEMH, and regular check-ins with the SEND team; Speech and Language Therapy (SALT); referrals to outside agencies; sensory circuits and sensory breakout spaces; liaison with physios and other therapists; the Inclusion Team meets weekly to discuss pupils and action plans; the Learning Support area was relaunched in the summer term of 2023.
