"To create a safe place where all students can learn, thrive, and achieve no matter their background."
OSSMA aims high with high-quality teaching and resources, a safe environment, and a curriculum rooted in the CREECK values (Confidence, Resilience, Enthusiasm, Empathy, Challenge, Kindness). The academy provides extensive personal development opportunities beyond the school day and seeks to bridge gaps to ensure all students receive a quality education.
OSSMA admits students aged 11-16 with a pupil admission number (PAN) of 240 per year. Applications are welcome at any time, but entry to Year 7 is encouraged at the start of the year. If applying through the Local Authority in the standard round, do so by the end of October. Priorities for admission (in order): looked-after children; children who have siblings at the academy; children of an existing member of staff; children who live nearest to the school (straight-line distance). If a child has an Education or Health Care Plan they are not part of the normal round, but count towards PAN. In-year admissions are possible by contacting the academy for an In-Year Admission form. Tours and personal academies visits are available on request.
