Holy Spirit is a joint Catholic and Church of England primary school serving the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St Chad’s Church of England; serves two dioceses, Shrewsbury and Chester; Mass and Eucharistic Services are celebrated on alternate weeks; two dedicated clergy contribute to spiritual life.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is based on the updated 2014 National Curriculum and a model by the White Rose Maths Hub (Mathematics). Read Write Inc Phonics used in EYFS and Key Stage 1 to support reading and writing (staff Ruth Miskin training). Ready, Steady, Spell is used as part of the literacy programme (systematic spelling with memory strategies). Science is taught by science specialists with a strong emphasis on practical investigations and field trips; includes Royal Society Partnership Grant and opportunities such as Aquaponics equipment. Curriculum covers core and foundation subjects in line with the National Curriculum; emphasis on inclusive English teaching and love of reading.
