Admissions Criteria

Eligibility criteria include: space in an appropriate class/peer group; the learner must have a proposed draft, or final Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) detailing Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs; academically, the learner should be working towards their expected levels and showing readiness to learn (though the school recognises some may not be ready); all parental responsibility holders must be in support of the placement and in agreement with the strategies and ethos of the school; the learner is local authority funded (with a private fee paying placement option via a Payment In Advance Scheme); travel distance should generally not exceed 45 minutes for primary and 75 minutes for secondary learners, though longer journeys may be unavoidable for SEN provision; after an application, a day or boarding assessment is undertaken and an assessment report produced; a comprehensive transition plan is developed in partnership with staff and carers to ensure a successful transition.
