Head Teacher's Message

Welcome to Granta School. We are a community special school for ages 3–19 with Education, Health and Care Plans. We support a range of needs including moderate to profound learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Conditions. Our staff are caring and work closely with families to enable independence and life skills. Headteacher: Sarah Crouch.

Curriculum Highlights

Pathway-based pupil grouping from Key Stage 2 upwards rather than strict year-groupings Accreditation routes including ASDAN, Duke of Edinburgh Award, and Functional Skills GCSEs are not offered for any pathways Forest School provision and dedicated outdoor learning Hydrotherapy and access to NHS therapy services (Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) integrated in school 6th Form pathways: Semi-Formal Pathway at Granta Hive; Formal Pathway at The Hive; emphasis on life skills, work experience and enterprise Specialist rooms and facilities (Adventure Room, 2 lightrooms) and on-site swimming pool

SEND Provision

The Hive is an offsite provision education base for our 16-19 year old, formal pathway students (Darwin class).

Admissions Criteria

Admission requires an EHCP that includes a learning disability; Granta is appropriate when special school education can best meet the pupil’s needs; there must be appropriate resources and funding for highly complex medical or behavioural needs; the pupil must want to attend Granta and the parents must agree with the school’s values and policies; a place must be available with sufficient space and human resources; the placement is generally the nearest appropriate option to the home.
