We follow the Opening Worlds Curriculum in KS2 and the local agreed syllabus for RE in KS1.

Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher welcomes visitors and highlights the school's mission to enable every pupil to fulfil their potential within a stimulating, secure and caring environment; emphasizes the school values of Excellence, Responsibility, Respect, Community, Enjoyment, Compassion and Perseverance.

Curriculum Highlights

National Curriculum subjects are taught: English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design Technology, Physical Education, Music, MFL (French) and Computing. PSHE is embedded in the curriculum; reading is promoted across the curriculum; a mastery approach with regular retrieval practice; strong language development and a 'say it again better' approach. Teaching approaches include Ready Steady Write/Ready Steady Spell (KS2), Power Maths with NCETM materials, Monster Phonics SSP, Opening Worlds Humanities Curriculum for History/Geography/RE (KS2), Teach Computing Scheme of Work. RealPE is used for PE; Kapow for music; EYFS development is emphasized; enrichment through visits, visitors, themed days and extra-curricular activities; focus on vocabulary development and knowledge transfer.

SEND Provision

Broad Square provides SEND support including SEND Information Report; SENCos Debra Jones (Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion) and Kirsty Buckley (Assistant SENCO for EYFS); services include Education Mental Health Practitioner, counselling, and community-based support via YPAS Seedlings; staff are attachment and trauma informed.

Admissions Criteria

Nursery admissions are ordered by LAC status, siblings in the school, and distance from the school; nursery admission requires the child to be three years old; admission to nursery is not a guarantee of a Reception place. All applications for Reception are made through the Liverpool Education Authority via online application. In-year transfer inquiries should be directed to the Local Authority, or by telephoning the school to enquire about spaces.
