SEND Provision

All ASC pupils have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP). Many pupils join in mainstream activities such as lunches and assemblies. The centre uses TEACCH principles to structure the day. A Speech and Language therapist works part time with pupils 1:1 or in small groups, and there is a part-time Occupational Therapist. Each child has a termly Individual Education Plan and an Annual Review to review the EHCP and set new objectives. Parents receive half-termly curriculum information and a weekly newsletter. Some pupils may access integration into a mainstream curriculum subject with ACE Zone staff providing support.

Admissions Criteria

Criteria for admission: pupils must have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP); age between 4 and 11 years; benefit from progressing towards time in a mainstream classroom; able to access a modified national curriculum; Education Psychologist may advise suitability; some pupils may have global development delay as a secondary need; not suitable for children with severe learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and/or extremely limited functional cognitive skills; London Borough of Hounslow will consult with the school before naming the school on an EHCP; most pupils will be supported by an ACE Zone Learning Support Assistant in mainstream.
