Curriculum Highlights

The Bible is central to all taught; balance between traditional curriculum values and learning by doing, with emphasis on reading; use of Emile and LetterJoin; early start in modern foreign languages (French) and outdoor play in primary. Year 7-11 expands to ICT, Food Technology and modern foreign languages; GCSE core includes Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, French and one science, with 3-4 additional subjects drawn from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History, RE, Geography, ICT, Music, Art, Food Technology and PE; many GCSE courses lead to International GCSEs (IGCSEs). IGCSEs are offered in English, History, Geography, Chemistry and Physics; IGCSE is the international version of GCSE. Pupil assessment includes annual tests in reading and spelling (GL Assessment), GL CAT (verbal, quantitative and non-verbal reasoning) annually from Year 4, end-of-topic tests, and an annual exam week for senior pupils; emphasis on developing teaching and learning rather than teaching to the test. Extra-curricular activities include the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, School Council and Christian Union; after-school clubs in football, multi-sports, choir, drama and craft; private music lessons; educational visits, field trips, and exchange visits to France.

SEND Provision

The School has limited means to adequately staff and resource pupils with specific needs; each pupil’s application is considered on its own merit; where a child has an Education Health and Care Plan or other special educational, physical or pastoral needs, the School will discuss with the parents what it is able to offer, which may involve additional cost to the parents.
