Jessica Lechner, Coordinator at Red Balloon Cambridge, welcomes students and families and describes the Centre as a community-focused space with no headteacher, no uniform, and no staff room. The message emphasises wellbeing, personal development, and re-engagement with learning, and notes a collaborative approach with families and external agencies.
Full-time, term-based provision, either in-person at Centres or at Red Balloon of the Air, which offers a hybrid of online and face-to-face support (up to 15 hours per week).
Students can join Red Balloon Cambridge from age 11 to 16; those already with us can stay to a maximum age of 18 to complete GCSEs. We do not offer A-levels. Admissions are judged on a case-by-case basis. There is usually a waiting list, with times varying according to referrals.
