Head Teacher's Message

The Headteacher welcomes readers to The Excelsior Academy, describing it as an exceptional learning environment with a real community spirit, high expectations, and strong pastoral care. The message emphasizes inclusivity, striving for academic excellence, a love of learning, recognition of effort, and the aim for students to become well-educated, confident, and well-rounded individuals.

SEND Provision

The SENDCo is Stephen Robinson. The SEND team coordinates provision for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities, identifying needs through transition and ongoing teaching referrals. They use a Plan–Do–Review cycle with interventions (including mentoring, seating adjustments, and targeted support) and may refer to external services such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and ASPACE. Annual Reviews are conducted for EHCPs, and communication with parents is maintained. The academy aims to ensure all students have access to the National Curriculum, with appropriate provision, and to involve parents in planning and reviewing progress.

Admissions Criteria

The Excelsior Academy adopts Hackney Council's Admission Arrangements and is its own admissions authority. Queries about admissions should be directed to the school’s Admissions Officer at [email protected], and further details can be found via Hackney Education’s admissions pages.
