Ethos & Values

"An Ethos Of Excellence Since 1888"

Grateful Attentive Compassionate Faith-filled Eloquent Learned Curious Intentional Compassion Resilience Confidence

St John’s Beaumont was founded as a Jesuit school. Although no longer a Jesuit school, the school continues to embrace Jesuit values, including cura personalis (care for the individual) and Magis; religious formation is part of the education, and there is a Jesuit Pup il Profile outlining virtues such as grateful, attentive, compassionate, faith-filled, eloquent, learned, curious and intentional. The school emphasises outstanding pastoral care, service, and the development of character and conscience in line with Jesuit heritage.

Head Teacher's Message

Headmaster Mr Philip Barr welcomes visitors to St John’s Beaumont Preparatory School. The school offers co-educational education for ages 3–13, combining tradition with a modern approach. Since 1888, it has built an exceptional reputation for academic and holistic education, emphasising strong partnerships with parents, exceptional teaching, and a rich co-curriculum. The Head outlines a commitment to values such as confidence, compassion, and resilience, and invites visits to experience the school community.
