Curriculum Highlights

The Curriculum is timetabled in 50 one hour lessons over a two week period Key Stage 3 subjects include English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, RE, Drama, Music, Art, Computing (ICT), Modern Foreign Languages, Technology and Physical Education All students study one foreign language (French or German) in Year 7; some teaching groups access a second language in Years 8 and 9 Astronomy is timetabled throughout Years 7 and 8; the grammar group takes Latin in Years 8 and 9; Latin and Astronomy are available in KS4 PSHCE is delivered through Winston Extra sessions for all Year 7 and Aspire groups in Years 8 and 9; bespoke PSHCE for Enigma and Grammar in Years 8 and 9 In Spring term of Year 9, students make Option choices for KS4 (Years 10 and 11) and commence these courses in the Summer term Key Stage 4 offers courses leading to GCSE or equivalent qualifications; most students study a Modern Foreign Language and a humanity subject to GCSE level to support the English Baccalaureate There are three streams in Years 8 and 9: Aspire, Enigma and Grammar Option groups at KS4 are mixed ability

For specialist places (Music or Academic), a supplementary information form must be returned to our Admissions Department and testing arranged. The awarding of Specialist Music Criteria is not an offer of a place. If Winston is your first preference, ensure it is listed as such in the application.
