"So that each child can flourish – like a flower of the field (Psalm 103:15)"
Little Houghton CE Primary School is a Church of England school with close links to the local Parish Church. Children regularly attend St Mary’s Church (at least once per term) and celebrate significant liturgical moments. The school follows the Diocesan Syllabus for Religious Education in the Diocese of Peterborough, together with Understanding Christianity. Worship is an integrated part of school life and collective worship is used to promote the Christian values that permeate the ethos.
Headteacher Mrs Carolyn Fairbrother describes the school as a happy, successful village school with a safe, caring, family-like ethos. She emphasises high academic achievement underpinned by Christian values and the active involvement of parents and the wider community.
The school provides SEND support through an adapted curriculum, full-time education with class teachers, small group/individual interventions, in-class support, and access to specialists where appropriate. The SENCO leads review of approaches and may involve an Individual Education Plan; there is potential for High Needs Funding or Statutory Assessment, with parental consultation at each stage.
Admissions are handled through the relevant county council (West Northamptonshire or North Northamptonshire). The policy includes provision for admission under churches’ worshipping members criteria (SIFA). Key dates for 2026 include a deadline for applying of 15 January 2026 and offers on 16 April 2026. Open visits are available, and parents can apply via the council pages for their area.
