Welcome from the Headmaster: Town Close is a leading independent, co-educational preparatory day school in Norwich. The school emphasizes Every Moment Matters, provides breadth of opportunity and challenges, and prepares pupils for life by developing both academic and personal growth. The 15-acre woodland site contributes to a nurturing environment and strong opportunities to progress to leading senior schools.
After School Care is available from 3:45pm to 6:00pm in Pre Prep and 4:00pm to 6:00pm in Prep. Tea is served to Pre Prep pupils and a snack is provided for those in the Prep Department. Fees are listed for pre-booked and non-pre-booked sessions across the following slots: 3:45–4:30, 3:45–5:00, 3:45–5:30 and 3:45–6:00 in Pre Prep; 4:00–5:00, 5:00–6:00 and 4:00–6:00 in Prep.
Town Close has a dedicated Learning Support Department for SEND, led by the Head of Learning Support. It supports pupils in class, in small groups, or in one-to-one sessions; an external Speech and Language Therapist visits for one-to-one sessions when appropriate. Pupils with SEND have a Pupil Passport. English as an Additional Language support is available if required. The school also provides a School Counsellor for emotional, social and wellbeing support.
Usual points of entry are at age 3 (Nursery), age 4 (Reception) and age 7 (Year 3). Mid-year entries are possible where space permits. Admissions policy details, entry procedure, equal treatment, special needs, assessment process, admissions criteria and bursaries are published online. Visit, register, attend a taster session, and sign a contract with a deposit (£500) as part of the process.
Termly base fees for 2025/2026: Nursery £3,925; Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 £5,090; Year 3 to 8 £5,950. VAT at 20% applies to base fees (with a VAT support arrangement proposed for 2025–2027). Sibling discount of 20% of the third and subsequent child’s fee applies if three or more children attend Town Close. Other fees include a £100+VAT registration fee, a £500 acceptance deposit, After School Care charges (pre-booked and non-booked rates across Pre Prep and Prep), and 30-lesson-per-year instrumental lessons at £210 per term. The bursary scheme offers means-tested awards with assessment by Bursary Assessment Associates (BAA), which may include full fee remission in exceptional need.
