Catherine Infant School provides a Designated Specialist Provision (DSP) called the Rocket Class for pupils with autism and communication/interaction difficulties. The DSP can take up to 10 children from Reception to Year 2, who have an EHCP detailing needs in communication/interactions. Admission to the DSP is decided by the Special Education Service; the DSP operates within the mainstream school; the curriculum is tailored to EHCP targets and uses visual supports; home–school links include Class Dojo and regular contact with staff; pupils access to mainstream learning is supported and transition planning is in place.
