Ethos & Values

We work to build a happy, caring and healthy school, where every member of our community is valued and respected. We want learning to be an enjoyable experience for all and we are committed to promoting and developing positive attitudes, self confidence and team working skills. Pupils are encouraged to be enthusiastic and enquiring, able to question and examine the world around them. We aim for our children to become independent, self-motivated learners, with pride in themselves, ready to contribute positively to the wider community. In partnership with parents, we encourage an atmosphere of cooperation, mutual respect and consideration for others. We expect high standards and good behaviour from all. Our purpose is to help all members of the school community to meet life's challenges with confidence. Oakridge Schools Federation, working together for a better future.

Curriculum Highlights

EYFS follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework 2021, supplemented by Development Matters. Learning is play-based with free-flow between indoor and outdoor environments in the EYFS. In Year R, there is a range of adult-led activities within the 17 areas of learning outlined in the Foundation Stage curriculum, with biggest part of the day allowing free-flow between indoor and outdoor environments. In Key Stage 1 & 2, National Curriculum is delivered in a balanced, stimulating and creative way with cross-curricular links where possible. Curriculum emphasises Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), Citizenship and Environmental Education, and aims to develop moral, religious and aesthetic attitudes. Teaching approaches vary and include a blend of single-subject teaching and theme-based activities, using a range of audio/visual aids and computing to enhance learning.
