Curriculum Highlights

English and Maths curriculum follows White Rose Maths as the main scheme for maths; various materials support English and writing development including a focus on the writing process. Phonics is taught using Little Wandle in EYFS and Key Stage 1. Foundation subjects are taught through topics with links to English and Maths; visits and trips extend learning. Music is delivered via Charanga, with singing in assemblies and a school choir; Year 4 recorder and Year 5 flute taught through Essex Music Services. Computing learning uses Purple Mash; E-Safety units included. Geography and Design Technology are taught using Kapow; PE is taught with Get Set 4 PE. Modern Foreign Language is French, taught through Language Angels. Sex and Relationship Education is provided with Yasmin and Tom, produced by the Family Planning Association. RE follows the Essex Agreed Syllabus; PSHE and SRE planning is included in Curriculum policy. Curriculum planning uses Long Term Plans and Medium Term Plans; four blocks of ten weeks each; subject champions monitor and develop their areas.

SEND Provision

We currently have 41 pupils on our SEND register. All staff are fully aware of each child's needs and many have received training to support them. Each child on our SEND register will have a One Plan identifying targeted support. These are reviewed throughout the school year. We have close links with local SENCos, the specialist teacher team, Speech and Language and Educational Psychology services. We currently support children with ASD, Speech and Language difficulties, ADHD, Hearing Impairment, social and emotional needs and general Learning Difficulties. The SEND Policy is reviewed regularly by the SENCo and Governors. Mrs Arnold is the school SENCo, and she can be contacted through the school office or emailing [email protected]
