Compassion Respect Resilience Love Teamwork Honesty

St Edward's Catholic Primary School teaches Religious Education as a rigorous academic subject and the Catholic life of the school is expressed through Masses, assemblies, class liturgy and close collaboration with the parish. The school prepares children to receive the sacraments of First Forgiveness and Holy Communion, and daily prayer and worship are central to the daily rhythm. The environment reflects Catholic belief, and the school emphasises living out faith through curriculum, celebrations and care for one another.

Head Teacher's Message

A welcome message from Headteacher Mrs A. Snell, emphasising a happy, well-behaved school community with caring staff, a Catholic ethos, high standards, a stimulating and diverse education, and opportunities for parents to be involved in school life.

Curriculum Highlights

Kapow curriculum forms the basis of our curriculum and is tailored to the locality. Reading is prioritised with a language-rich environment and a focus on high-level vocabulary. Phonics provision focuses on the youngest children with Read, Write, Inc; additional support for SEND, EAL, or new to country. Enrichment opportunities include educational visits, visitors, fieldwork and after-school activities. Assessment for Learning with timely feedback to monitor progress. The curriculum aims to develop strong characters, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and an understanding of British values.

SEND Provision

There is a sharp focus on phonics for our youngest children and a programme of support is in place for any older children who may need additional help, these may be SEND, EAL or new to country.
