Curriculum Highlights

Foundation Stage curriculum organised into 6 themes per year and 7 areas of learning (PRIME: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design); Development Matters guidance; Wellcomm Audit for speech and language; Early Learning Goals. KS1–KS6 curriculum organised into half-termly, whole-school themes on a two-year cycle. Well-being Days focusing on mental health, well-being and mindfulness (usually last Wednesday of half term). English taught daily; KS1 Read, Write Inc phonics and reading; initial Reading focus for Foundation Stage; KS2 includes Read, Write, Inc spelling; regular reading activities and targeted 1-1 or small group support as needed; handwriting emphasis throughout. Maths taught with White Rose Maths scheme; concrete-pictorial-abstract progression; emphasis on reasoning and mathematical vocabulary; cross-curricular use of maths in other subjects. Beyond English and Maths, the rest of the KS2 curriculum includes geography, history, science, design and technology, art, PE, RE, music, computing and French ( KS2). RSHE delivered via Kapow Primary (from Sept 2024) with themes and age-appropriate content; subjects taught through half-termly themes across the curriculum.

SEND Provision

SEND provision overseen by the SEND Leader; two SEMH resource bases opened in May 2024 (Willow for Foundation Stage and KS1; Sycamore for KS2); use of outside agencies (Education Health, School Nurse, CAMHS, Education Welfare); inclusion marked; ongoing monitoring and review of SEND provision by the Inclusion Leader and SEND Leader.
