St Mary’s is a Catholic school with the chapel at the heart of school life. Mass and liturgy are central, with regular chapel prayer, Mass on Sundays, and a Chaplain assisting with sacramental life. SEND Provision

The Learning Support Department screens all pupils in their first term and provides targeted interventions as needed. In Years 7–8, Learning Support lessons are conducted in small group workshops; from Year 9, additional support is available as needed with regular drop-in sessions. Academic departments run buddy systems, staff liaise with subject teachers, and there are arrangements for access to examination supports where appropriate.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are offered at 11+, 13+, and 16+ following an entrance examination, an interview, and a report from the current school. Examinations for 11+ and 13+ take place at St Mary’s; 16+ involves a general paper and subject interviews. Open Mornings are held several times per year, and registration is encouraged at least two years before entry.
