"Let your light shine before others… Matthew 5:16"
As a Church of England School, RE is a core, academic subject along with Mathematics, English & Science. The aims include enabling pupils to know about and understand Christianity as a living faith that influences lives worldwide and as the religion that has most shaped British culture and heritage; enabling pupils to know and understand about other major world religions and non-religious worldviews, their impact on society, culture and the wider world; contributing to the development of pupils’ own spiritual/philosophical convictions. The teaching of the Christianity strand uses Understanding Christianity, and The Big Story of the Bible (Creation, Fall, People of God, Incarnation, Gospel, Salvation, Kingdom of God) to support understanding. Collective Worship is an ongoing, inclusive practice with ministers and staff leading worship and links to local churches.
