Headteacher Miss Kate Byrne describes King Edward Primary School as a thriving, caring community that provides a safe, creative learning environment. The school aims for happy, caring, and achieving pupils, with strong family partnerships, an extensive provision (KEEP) and an active Out of School Club, and open opportunities for parents to engage with the school.
KEEP (King Edward Extended Provision) provides full-time Early Years provision for eligible three- and four-year-olds. The Out of School Club (OOSC) operates before school, after school and holiday club, open 51 weeks a year from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
Dedicated SEND staff including a SENCO (Miss Douthwaite) and Inclusion Leader; baseline assessments in Foundation Stage; ongoing assessment and discussion with parents when additional needs are identified; use of Early Help Assessments and external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, SALT) as needed; emotional and family support through the Care, Guidance and Support Leader; shared planning with families for ongoing progress.
