Love Wisdom Fairness Self-Control Courage Humility Integrity

Emmanuel College is a Christian ethos school of character for the whole community. We believe that everyone in the Emmanuel College community should be valued, challenged and inspired, being ‘made in God’s image’ and therefore infinitely precious, morally responsible and gifted for a purpose.

Head Teacher's Message

Acting Principal’s Welcome emphasizes Emmanuel College’s Christian ethos, commitment to excellence, character development and leadership. The message presents the college as a Christian ethos school for the whole community where students are valued, challenged and inspired, and where core virtues (love, wisdom, fairness, self-control, courage, humility, integrity) guide learning and service.

Curriculum Highlights

Broad and balanced Sixth Form curriculum with over 30 courses. A Levels in traditional subjects such as English, History, Politics and Maths, plus creative and vocational options. BTEC Extended Certificate/Diploma and Cambridge Technicals in fields including Applied Law, Business, Engineering, Health and Social Care, IT and Science; CTec in Sport and Physical Activity. New subjects added recently: Psychology, Health and Social Care, and Applied Law.

SEND Provision

The college offers a 16-19 Discretionary Bursary with two categories: (1) bursaries for students facing personal financial constraints or in care, or in receipt of Income Support, Universal Credit or Disability Living Allowance (£1,200 per annum paid in instalments of £400 at the start of each term for those not living in the parental home); (2) a discretionary fund for students living at home where financial barriers exist (e.g., eligibility based on a low Tax Credit Award Notice of £30,000 or below; other cases considered). Applications are via an Application Form for Mr B Wood after a place in Sixth Form is verified and students have an individualised Office 365 email address. Bursary payments are termly in arrears and continued receipt depends on adhering to the Learning Agreement. The full 16-19 Discretionary Bursary Award Policy is available on the College Website.

Admissions Criteria

Emmanuel College runs Year 7 admissions with a non-verbal reasoning test for applicants who apply before 31 October. There is also an aptitude test for those who wish to be considered under a science/technology aptitude criterion. The college notes that religion is not a determining factor in placement. If unwell on test day, alternative arrangements are offered for the non-verbal reasoning test; the aptitude test has separate arrangements (e.g., potential for extra time for SEN/EHCP considerations). Results and eligibility for aptitude places are communicated by email by 25 October; meeting the threshold does not guarantee a place. Applications open 1 July each year; late applications are considered only if places remain after the closing date. Further details and policies can be found in the admissions policy for 2026-27 (and earlier).
