Ethos & Values

"Together we will flourish"

care respect

St Luke’s is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school. Worship is mainly Christian, with prayers and hymns forming a large part of daily life. Religious Education topics explore the Christian viewpoint first, while also allowing exploration of world religions. Daily prayers are said in class, and the children attend a church service on Tuesday mornings.

Head Teacher's Message

Thank you for your interest in St Luke’s. Our school serves children aged 4 to 11 in a Church of England environment. The motto is 'Together we will flourish'. We aim to build long-lasting, positive relationships, foster confidence and resilience, and look after mind, body and spirit. We encourage care for others, self-worth and respecting the values of others, and we look forward to working with you and your child in a secure learning environment.

Curriculum Highlights

Knowledge-rich curriculum designed to fill gaps and widen vocabulary, with enrichment, enquiry and vocabulary at the heart of learning. Three-part curriculum design: Children’s curriculum entitlement; curriculum enrichment; opportunity for children to work in their element. Implementation features include innovative topic introductions, learning from mistakes, and out-of-class enrichment to develop basic skills. Impact focuses on developing skills, knowledge, norms and Christian values to prepare students for education and life, and to flourish in care. Sounds-Write Phonics is used to teach reading and spelling.
