Nick Vernon describes APS as a dynamic, modern, non-selective school with broad opportunities and excellent academic outcomes. The school aims to provide depth and breadth of learning, a proactive pastoral approach, and personalised support to help each boy reach his potential and be ready for 11+ and beyond. Curriculum Highlights

EYFS framework-aligned curriculum with a broad, differentiated programme and specialist subjects (Sport, Music, Drama). Early Years online learning journey 'Evidence Me' to share learning with parents. From Year 4, Design and Technology lessons (including use of hand tools; Year 6 uses electric saws and drills). Music department with three choirs (Infant, Junior, Senior), non-auditioned ensembles (Woodwind, Guitar, String, Brass) and a full school orchestra; dedicated Music Block. Sport taught by two full-time specialist PE teachers; wide range of team and individual sports; history of national-level success. Trips and residentials from Year 3 (Robinwood, Winmarleigh Hall, Lake District, France). Eco School programmes and awards (Green Flag; Eco Warriors). Productions and events play a central role in school life (drama productions, charitable events). Aims and ethos emphasize excellence, kindness and curiosity; strong emphasis on pastoral care and preparing for senior school.

Wraparound Care

Wraparound care is provided before and after school. Before School Care runs 8:00–8:30 (4 per day) and 8:15–8:30 (2 per day). After School Care is location-specific and includes Bank Place (Pre-School & Reception), Highbury (Year 1–2), and Marlborough Road (Year 3–6) with defined sessions and prices (e.g., 3:20–4:30, 3:20–6:00, and after-club options with high tea). Ad hoc bookings are available and invoicing is handled termly or per session. The service is run by APS staff in dedicated wraps around care facilities. APS is a non-selective school that accepts boys from age 2 up to 11. It aims to prepare boys for a range of secondary destinations, including Trafford grammar schools and leading independent schools, and provides ongoing support to families throughout the secondary transition process.

Fees are invoiced termly prior to the start of each term. Registration fee £60 (non-refundable on waiting list). Deposit £500 (refundable on leaving, subject to terms). Government Tax-Free Childcare is accepted for under-5s; Childcare Vouchers accepted up to the term in which a boy turns 5, with restrictions on combining schemes.
