St Michael and All Angels Primary is a Catholic School. Religious Education is provided for all children and makes up 10% of the timetable. The RE curriculum follows ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’ syllabus. The centrality of the Mass in the lives of Catholics is present throughout the teaching. The scheme is implemented from Early years through to year 6 and is aligned with major events in the liturgical year. The Way, The Truth and The Life syllabus is rooted in scripture and presents Catholicism as a world Church open to dialogue with other faiths.

Curriculum Highlights

The National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2 comprises English, Mathematics, Science, Computing (ICT), Art and Design, Design Technology, History, Geography, Languages, Music, Physical Education, Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education. Curriculum is taught as discrete subjects with cross-curricular links. Outdoor learning is promoted across a range of subjects to enhance learning. The school uses Rosenshine Principles of effective instruction. A knowledge-based curriculum with subject-specific vocabulary lists and progression. Assessment is used to identify progress and inform planning.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Toast Club runs from 8:00am every morning (breakfast provision). Entrance is via the main door. Little Cherubs After School Club runs 3:30pm–5:30pm, Monday to Friday; places must be booked and paid for in advance; pick up is via the After School Club exit; a late fee applies to any child picked up after 5:30pm.

Financial Information

30 hours funded places are available for eligible 3- and 4-year-olds. For those not eligible, core 15 hours per week remain. Additional sessions can be purchased at £14 per session (subject to availability).
