Corpus Christi is a Catholic Primary School with Gospel values at the heart of the curriculum. The Mission Statement is ‘Together we DREAM, Together we Learn’ and RE is a core part of the curriculum. The teaching of Jesus is at the centre of all we do. The school uses the Come and See RE scheme and aims to prepare students to love and respect others in a Catholic environment.

Welcome to Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School. Our school community is built on the values of hard work, care, and support; Gospel Values are at the heart of everything we do; the DREAM curriculum and Mission Statement guide our learning; the school is in Rainford, with high expectations and creativity.

Curriculum Highlights

The DREAM curriculum follows the National Curriculum and uses White Rose Maths as the vehicle for mathematics. Phonics and reading are taught with Read Write Inc; guided reading sessions use VIPERS; Reading books are used; RWI is taught from Nursery. Computing uses Twinkl PlanIt Computing and eAware; 20 iPads, a bank of laptops and a computer suite. Spanish is taught via Language Angels in KS2; six units per year group; Year 6 covers Progressive Units to build conversational skills. Design Technology uses Twinkl PlanIt units; Art and Design uses Art and Design Handbook; Music uses Charanga with St Helens Music Service. Science uses Developing Experts for knowledge, methods and uses of Science; geography and history use enquiry-based learning; Flashback 4 questions in each history lesson. Physical Education uses SHAPES package; external coaching; swimming; Your School Games Mark; after-school sports clubs. PSHE uses Twinkl Life; equality act; 'Everybody Welcome' approach; RSE integrated with Catholic Teaching. Reading and Writing are taught with a focus on vocabulary and reading culture; VIPERS; home reading; 1:1 reading sessions in Early Years and Reception.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes

Breakfast Club is available from 7:30am to 9:00am; if children arrive before 8:45am they must report to Breakfast Club; the school day starts at 8:50am and registers close at 9:00am.

SEND Provision

Children with SEN are carefully provided for within each class and taught and assessed through tailored support and differentiation. Where applicable, P Scale objectives are used to plan and assess. Vulnerable pupils receive targeted support through intervention programmes that are individually tailored and closely monitored.
