Matthew Arnold Primary School follows the Liverpool Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The syllabus aims to be fully inclusive. The aim of RE is not to make believers out of pupils but to educate and inform; the syllabus is designed to be reflective and inclusive.

Nursery admissions for 2-year-olds with funding. Eligible funded places include: Income Support; Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA); Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA); Universal Credit and household income £15,400 or less after tax; Pension Credit; Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit (or both) with household income £16,190 or less before tax. Children are also eligible if looked after by the local authority; have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan; receive Disability Living Allowance; or have left care under an adoption order, special guardianship order or a child arrangements order. From April 2024, free childcare for working parents of two-year-olds starts at 15 hours per week, increasing to 30 hours per week by September 2025. Eligible working parents must work at least 16 hours per week and not earn more than £100,000. From January 2026, limited 30-hour sessions for 2-year-olds will be introduced, with additional chargeable hours invoiced weekly if applicable. Places for MAPS Nursery are allocated in application date order; a 3-year-old place within the school nursery is not automatic and requires application through the school administration office.
A half-termly voluntary snack contribution of £7 per child via ParentPay. From January 2026, a limited number of 30-hour sessions for 2-year-olds with additional chargeable hours invoiced weekly.
