Ruckleigh is a non-denominational school, accepting children of all faiths and none.
Dominic Rhys Smith, Headmaster, describes Ruckleigh as a magical place where academics, imagination and fun combine. Founded in 1909 as a progressive, co-educational school, it emphasises intellectual curiosity, confidence, diligence and thinking outside the box, while balancing academic rigour with variety, compassion and a love of learning.

Playpals after-school club operates on school premises and is open for fun and games until 5:30pm each evening or until 6pm using the late service. Regular bookings: after-school up to 5:30pm £8.30; Late service £1.70 (if pre-booked). Occasional/irregular bookings are charged at £1 extra per day. Playpals also runs a Holiday Play Scheme for children aged 3 to 9 years from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily at £31.50 per day including lunch and afternoon tea; places must be booked and paid for in advance.

Admission is generally at the beginning of the academic year by order on the waiting list, after interview and informal assessment. Siblings are given preference on the waiting list. Entry to Nursery is strictly in order of registration. Admission at times other than the beginning of the academic year can be accommodated subject to availability.
