Although certain of Steiner ideas were of a religious nature, founded in an evolutionary concept of Christianity, Waldorf teachers come from every cultural, religious and non-religious background.

Curriculum Highlights

Follows the international Steiner Waldorf Curriculum rather than the National Curriculum. Education organized in Main Lessons and age-appropriate blocks across the school. Development of twelve capacities including Language, Health, Senses, Imagination, Empathy, Aesthetics, Enquiry, Democratic participation, Lifelong learning, Future thinking, Holistic thinking and Spiritual experience, and Judgement. GCSEs taught over two years (Class 10 and Class 11) with typical subject selections (e.g., English Language, Mathematics, Spanish, German; additional options like Combined Science, Psychology, English Literature, Fine Art, Drama, Music, History, Geography). Foreign languages (Spanish and German) and a broad Waldorf curriculum including Art, Crafts, Music, Movement, Drama; emphasis on creating plays and musical participation.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club (07:30 - 08:45) £8.80 per session (myEvolve); £10.00 per session (ad hoc). After School Club (15:15 - 17:30) £13.20 per session (myEvolve); £14.50 per session (ad hoc). These sessions must be booked in advance to access the reduced rate, on a half-termly block basis, via myEvolve, and will be charged in advance. Ad hoc bookings are possible if there is space. For children not picked up from After School Club by 16:30 there is an additional charge of £5.50 per 15 minutes. SEND Provision

Elmfield is an inclusive school and the Waldorf approach goes a long way to supporting individual needs. We are not a specialist provision and there are limitations to the special educational needs that we can support. Our SEND policy follows a graduated approach to SEND as detailed in the SENDD Code of Practice 2015, including roles and responsibilities and ensuring progress and good outcomes.
