The RE syllabus aims to help pupils know about and understand a range of worldviews, both religious and nonreligious, recognise similarities and differences, become confident in the main disciplines of theology, philosophy and human and social sciences, and have time and space to reflect upon their own worldview; RE seeks to grow respectful, thoughtful and reflective young people in a diverse and multicultural city and country.
Welcome message from Headteacher Mr. Darren Clews describing Grangehurst as a friendly, caring school with high expectations, a focus on reading, writing and mathematics, and OFSTED ratings of GOOD (with OUTSTANDING areas in 2016; reaffirmed GOOD in 2021).
Grangehurst is an inclusive mainstream school with SEND provision led by the SENCo and Assistant SENCo. The Hive provides tailored activities to support individual learning goals, and external agencies are involved. Many pupils have an EHCP and receive funding; some pupils reintegrate gradually into mainstream classes for afternoon lessons.
